God damn tech journalists.
I have been offline for a few weeks (moving house). I am slowly clearing backlogged RSS feeds from my reader. I subscribe to a few different tech, mostly Apple related, news feeds where different 'journalists' proclaim the new direction for Apple and outline what their next move is.
First off, who cares. Don't get me wrong, I find this stuff interesting to a point considering I am a technology professional and Apple computer's are my weapon of choice. I draw the line at getting involved in pointless speculation and pretending that it will have some profound impact on my life. I think that is the basis of the problem here. It seems like some people treat the latest news and views of Apple as a soundtrack to their lives.
Secondly, and the inspiration for writing this, I have had enough of comments like this one with the fantastic quote "This will be accomplished not by using compatibility middleware like Wine, but rather by Apple implementing the Windows API directly in OS X 10.5". Who are these people? These people hurt the industry by firing off without having any idea of the technical (or legal for that matter) implications of such a statement. Honestly. Like it's that easy. It could be done. But it's not like someone came to a board meeting and said "Hey, I have this great idea. Lets just implement the Windows API in our OS.". And the CEO said "It will be done".
And don't even get me started on John Dvorak (intentionally not linked, for the sake of my own soul). I hadn't really made the distinction in my mind that tech journalists can be just as ridiculous as rock journalists. Sure you can strike gold on either side (see Daring Fireball for intersting tech journalism and opinions).
I don't know why it is annoying me so much today. Probably because I have to wade through more than usual.
10:35 AM | 1 CommentNew Tea Styles.
I am what most would call a heavy tea drinker. White, no sugar. I used to drink a lot of coffee but now only buy and drink coffee when I am reasonably confident it isn't going to burn a hole in my stomach. For some reason, instant and cheap coffee really irritates my stomach to the point of burning so I generally steer clear of it (also because it tastes like caffeinated death).
Back to my point...
No one disputes that tea made in a pot > tea bags. After exclusively using tea bags for the last few months while at work, I decided that I would try making the tea by pouring in the milk first, then water. So far so good. I think it is a lot better, most likely due to the different consistency.
If you drink tea, give it a go. What do you have to lose?

Didn't take me long to let this thing cover in dust did it. Lots of things have been happening, most of which will now be condensed into point form for easy consumption and hopefully be elaborated on later.
- Came back to Rockhampton for work.
- Graduated (with Distinction).
- Wrote countless lines of PHP, JavaScript and HTML for Cortecs.
- Caught up with friends.
- Wasted too much time playing Xbox.
- Survived one of the worst sinus/chest infections ever.
- Got a haircut.
It is a shame that I haven't been writing my thoughts down on this site as I have experienced and/or philosophised over many different things that are worthy of the time taken to write them. Work has been extremely busy and the last thing I want to do once I get home is to look at another computer so that is my excuse and watch me stick to it.
